Easter Cookies Recipe
Ingredients:- 1 cup of softened butter
- 1 cup of powdered sugar
- 2 eggs
- 4 teaspoons of orange zest
- 3 1/2 cups flour
- 1/2 teaspoon of salt
- Colored sugar sprinkles
Directions:
- Place parchment paper on cookie sheets.
- Beat the butter in a bowl till it is smooth.
- Add powdered sugar and beat again.
- Mix in eggs and orange zest.
- Add salt and flour and mix tell it becomes a dough.
- Continue to mix with your hands.
- Wrap dough in Saran Wrap and place in fridge for one hour.
- Unwrap and roll out onto floured surface with a rolling pin as thick as your baby finger.
- Cut out shapes using Easter or Spring cookie cutters.
- Preheat oven to 350ºF.
- When oven is ready, place cookies on cookie sheets and bake for eight to 10 minutes or until golden brown.
- Remove from oven but leave on cookie sheet for five minutes then remove and place on wire rack to cook completely.
- Spread butter cream Easter icing on cookies and add sugar sprinkles.
Butter Cream Easter Icing Recipe
Ingredients:- 4 tablespoons of butter
- 2 cups powdered sugar
- 4 tablespoons of milk
- 1 teaspoon of vanilla
- Pastel food coloring
Directions:
- Beat butter until it is soft and stir in the sugar.
- Add and stir in the milk and vanilla.
- Beat the butter cream until it is fluffy.
- Divide into bowls and add a drop of different pastel food coloring to each bowl.
- Mix in food coloring.
Stained Glass Easter Egg Cookies Recipe
Ingredients:- 1 cup light brown sugar
- 1 egg
- 2 1/2 cups flour
- 2 teaspoon of allspice
- 40 clear hard candies
- pastel colored writing icing
- Preheat oven to 350ºF.
- Line cookie sheet with parchment paper.
- Beat sugar and butter in a large bowl.
- Beat the egg and add it to the mixture.
- Stir in the allspice and flour and mix well.
- Mix with your hands to form a dough.
- Roll out with a rolling pin as thick as your baby finger and cut with oval or egg shaped cookie cutter.
- Place on cookie sheet with a spatula.
- Make a hole at the top for hanging on an egg tree if you like with a straw.
- Cut a hole in the middle of the cookie with a small round cookie cutter.
- Put a candy in the hole. Bake for 25 minutes and let cool completely on the cookie tray.
- Decorate the cookie part with pastel writing icing and let harden.
